The Gore Hotel, London, is conveniently located in a tree lined avenue between Harrods and Kensington Place. The Gore Hotel offers old fashioned comfort and charm.
The hotel aims to provide mellow surroundings, intelligent and friendly staff, and delicious food and wine at affordable prices.
The Gore has retained its Victorian charm, with mahogany and walnut panelling, oriental rugs and even some stained glass windows. Little has changed in this room since its use by the hotels original spinster proprietresses - Misses Ada and Fanny Cook. In pride of place are their impressive 1830s four poster beds. Mahogany - panelled bathroom dominated by impressive throne water closets. Antique delft tiles line the walls in the shower area where the 24-inch copper showerheads provide a torrent of water reminiscent of a tropical downpour.
The Green Room is actually misnamed: its walls are a warm red, hung with period portraits and lined with old books. It is the perfect place to relax with a drink in front of the fire after a busy day - a civilised environment in which to meet friends or take coffee after a delicious dinner in The Gore's busy Bistrot 190 restaurant.
The Gore has been noted for fine food since the 1950s when, in an atmosphere redolent of 16th century Hampton Court, 400 people a night dined off suckling pig and syllabub in the hotel's Elizabethan Rooms.
Today, guests enjoy the delicious food and buzzing atmosphere of Bistrot 190, our upbeat and informal all-day restaurant.
The Gore's world famous candlelit bar attracts an eclectic mix of fascinating people. Local residents and hotel guests mingle in the warm, intimate atmosphere of a private house party.
Bar 190 is particularly popular with celebrities from film, television, fashion, publishing and advertising. With its ornate plaster ceiling and mahogany panelled walls it is more like a private club than a hotel bar.
